There was a time when the world was dark and the sun no longer shone bright for its people. Days would feel like weeks, and the worlds inhabitants couldn’t find their way through even the most basic of tasks.
In a small village, there was a young blonde boy, who dreamed of the light that once warmed its people. He was an inquisitive, energetic, and determined boy, full of hope and dreams. He used to dream of the day light would return, and he could go and explore the world around him, which is now covered in darkness.
One day, he decided to begin his exploration in the woods that lay close to his village. He was scared of what may be waiting, but he chose to focus on the hope of discovery, than the fear of what could be. And with that he set off.
When he set out on foot, he only had the inbuilt body torch that all the villagers used to guide them since the sun left. The light shone dimly, offering vision to only what lay a few meters in front. Once he began exploring, he discovered some incredible, natural beauties, even if they were in a blanket of darkness. He could see trees that went to the heavens, and flowing pools of water that lay next to, what could only be heard as, a raging waterfall; Old & once inhabited homes of local wild life, and even cottages that lay hidden in the woods that were once home for villagers. So much life laid here, and so much potential for more. The boy couldn’t understand how the Sun could leave like this, with darkness left to meet their eyes, when such beauty surrounds them, now unseen and untouched.
As his journey continued, he lost track of time and realized he had ventured far from home. He panicked, thinking how he will find his way home. As he began to back track to the still dark village he knows so well, and reminiscing the magical moments that were only just his reality, he suddenly bumped into something he thought only existed in fables told by the elders. They spoke of these ferocious bears that hide in the darkness of the forest, but never did he think he would see them with his own eyes. Stood back, in fear of what may happen, the bear turned to the bump of the boy, faced him and began to move towards him.
As the boy pictured his world coming to an end, imagining a horrible fate that was now part of his story, he felt the paw of the bear reach out and move lightly across his face. But he stood still, in more shock than fear, as it was not what he expected. The bear’s touch was soft and gentle, and his energy steeped with a depth of wisdom he never knew existed.
